Exciting Changes for Lifewater

Two Organizations Joining Together = Greater Impact

As of January 1, Lifewater has officially begun the process of merging with another Christian non-profit, Water for Good. Although neither organization required merging, it became evident that by joining their resources, talents, and expertise, they could significantly enhance an impact on the individuals they serve.
Over the past eight years, Water for Good and Lifewater International have gotten to know each other. They've discovered shared values, including a mutual goal of effectively providing sustainable access to safe water, improved sanitation and hygiene to even more people. After numerous conversations and prayers this past year, they moved forward with a merger discussion between the two organizations. Both organizations’ boards and executive staff have agreed this is the best way to multiply their effectiveness. The heart of what they do is ending water poverty; ultimately, they believe that together, as one combined organization, they can do that faster and more efficiently.

Who is Lifewater International?

Founded in 1977, Lifewater is a faith-based organization serving hard-to-reach places in Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, and Cambodia. Using their “Vision of a Healthy Village” approach, they focus on sustainable access to safe water, and improved sanitation and hygiene. With 149 employees, their headquarters are located in Bentonville, Ark., and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Who is Water For Good?

In 2004, the company was founded by a missionary who saw the great need for clean water in the Central African Republic (CAR). The mission? Providing reliable water services in one of the poorest countries in the world. With 180 employees, Water for Good is headquartered in Indianapolis, Ind., with their staff working remotely in the United States, Europe and the CAR.

You will be seeing the organization name change from Lifewater to Water for Good as the two Christian Organizations combine. Mama Java is donating $1 to this impactful work for every bag of coffee that is sold.
By donating a portion of our sales, we desire to make a meaningful impact in the lives of those served by Water For Good. Not only are they receiving safe water that will drastically improve their quality of life, but are also hearing the good news of the Living Water which will quench their spiritual thirst if they choose to drink it.

Whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.' John 4:14
