Heidi married her best friend, Vernon Troyer, eight years ago. She was almost 20 when they got married, and since then, they have been gifted with 2 wonderful boys: Brayden Shane, age 5 1/2 and Easton Carter, age 2 1/2.
Heidi was born and raised in Indiana in an Old Order Amish community until her family moved to Western Kentucky to join a New Order Amish Community when she was 15. She grew up in a Christian home and loved the Lord from an early age. Her goal then, and still today, is to always keep growing in her walk with Jesus and to teach her sons to do the same.
Heidi met her husband after her family moved to Kentucky. They were in the same church and youth group, and got to know each other well through that. Vernon and Heidi started dating the end of 2015 and were married Sept 1st, 2017. Their first son, Brayden, was born in March 2020.
Heidi and her husband had decided to move to Northern Kentucky, where there was a Mennonite church starting up the end of 2021. In the meantime, a seasonal job opportunity came up in Alaska where Vernon’s brother lived. They didn't have much time to make a decision, but they soon decided to say yes to an adventure!
In March 2021, they packed up their belongings to head to Alaska for the summer, with plans to then move to Northern KY that fall. Last minute, they decided it would be better if Heidi would fly up with their one-year-old while Vernon and his brother drove up. They drove straight through to Alaska, taking 76 hours! It was definitely an adventure and they very much enjoyed it!
Vernon and Heidi made lots of new friends, since they didn't know anyone there except Vernon’s brother prior to moving up. The distance from family was the only thing that brought them back. They moved to Northern KY in November of 2021, and in December of 2022, they welcomed Easton Carter into their little family.
It was about that time that they discovered Mama Java Coffee. Heidi is not a big coffee drinker except for an occasional iced coffee, but Vernon really enjoys Mama Java, and his favorite blend is the Brew'd Awakening. Heidi loves the smell of the freshly roasted beans when they arrive and is impressed how they roast them after you order to ensure freshness!
Heidi stays busy as a mom and wife, as well as doing accounting for a lawn equipment business. Growing up, her Dad owned a lawn equipment business, so that's mostly what she has done for a job all her life, with the exception of working in a bakery a few years.
Heidi can maintenance most lawn equipment and even knows how to do repairs. It has been a blessing to have so much experience in that field, and now be able to have a job that she can do remotely from home on her own schedule for the most part.
Heidi has also worked as an affiliate for Amare for a few years now. She decided to try their supplements after going through a very busy season in life and experiencing some stress-related health issues. Vernon and Heidi were both blown away by the results of better mood, energy, and motivation.
Some things Heidi enjoys in life are being out in nature, volleyball, softball, a good book or movie. As a mom, she doesn’t get to play sports very much anymore, but she has learned to enjoy cooking & grilling for her little family. Baking isn't really her thing despite having worked in a bakery for a time.
Since living in their current home, Vernon and Heidi have been doing some remodeling projects, since it is an older house that stood empty for four years prior to them purchasing it. Soon after Easton was born, they discovered mold in the house. They ended up needing to gut the master bedroom and even replaced floor joists. With the big remodel, a newborn, and some big changes in Vernon’s career, that time was one of the toughest they have been through. During that time, Heidi learned to trust in God more and evaluate what is important in life.
