Homemaking With A Heart For God

Cassandra and Loren have been married for seven wonderful years. They live on a small farmette, nestled in the valley, and surrounded by willow trees. Almost every kind of farm animal lives there, and many hours are spent in the barn feeding the goats, watching a tiny lamb take its first wobbly steps, or hunting for eggs from the free-range chickens. Living on a farm gives many opportunities to learn about the cycle of life.

Loren is a salesman and also a minister of their church, and taking care of their farm is his stress reliever. Cassandra calls homemaking her hobby, as most traditional hobbies do not appeal to her. She is passionate about creating a simple and healthy space for her family to thrive. She and Loren are blessed with two precious little girls - Aviana, almost four, and Evelyn, who is two. Cassandra loves to watch them grow and develop their own individual likes, dislikes, and interests. Life is busy and full of moments to thank God for!

Cassandra became a Christian and was baptized at the age of sixteen, but her close walk with Jesus did not begin until several years later. As she grew older, she began to realize that without surrender to Jesus, life has no real meaning. She is so grateful that He gently pursued and called her to Him even in those years that she did not fully turn her life over to Him.

Cassandra’s husband was ordained as a minister when they were twenty-five, and the couple again learned to let go and rely on strength and wisdom from God. In the time since, they have been so thankful to see Him there to guide them each step of the way as they follow the path He has for them.Whether it be thanking Jesus for a new day before even opening her eyes in the morning, or singing "I have decided to follow Jesus" as her girls drift off to sleep at bedtime, bringing Jesus into the everyday moments of life is important to Cassandra, and she makes it a point to remember Him throughout the day.

One of her favorite parts of the day is the few hours of quiet time while the girls take a nap. Cassandra loves to straighten up the house, make a cup of coffee, and slowly fold a load of laundry or sit at the sewing machine. Lately, she has been enjoying making yogurt from raw milk, and every so often the decluttering bug will bite and she will be sorting through closets looking for things to send away.

Coffee is one of her favorite subjects to talk about, and Mama Java beans are some of the best. She loves that she can always count on having a delicious crema on her espresso shot. She hasn’t tried all of the blends, but Espresso Intenso is the winner for lattes. They also enjoy the Messy Bun blend. Cassandra has loved coffee her whole life and enjoys drinking it just about any way you can make it. Black coffee in the morning and a maple breve in the afternoon is perfection.

She loves the verse in Isaiah 41 that says, “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.”
