Trusting The Author of her Story

Anna Nisley is from Northwestern Pennsylvania where every bit of blue sky and sunshine is celebrated. She and her husband have been married for 12 years and have two daughters, ages 10 and 8.

Their family is transitioning back to PA after having been at Faith Mission Home as house parents for almost four years. Anna is so grateful for God's faithfulness in leading them to Virginia for a truly incredible experience as a family - those years were a gift for them all.  They are grateful that God's goodness and grace continues as they navigate the change in coming back to a familiar community. Finding a house to live in, taking on a new job and new school, and trying to find their place in the church and community again gives Anna and her family plenty of opportunity to release turmoil and fear and trust in the One who is writing their story.

In an effort to learn the community again, Anna is involved in several different things, some of which include mentoring and volunteering in the school their girls attend, doing Quickbooks work, and bookkeeping. Three random facts about Anna: she would happily do data entry every day; she is slowly learning to enjoy sewing; she finds great satisfaction in a freshly mowed lawn. As a family, the Nisley’s enjoy hikes on the local wildlife refuge, as well as travel and exploration. They hope to go on a western trip this summer to add a few more states to their board.

Another of their favorite family hobbies is enjoying coffee together. Anna’s husband taught her to enjoy coffee about 10 years ago, and she has been fairly devoted ever since: a cup of black pour-over in the morning, and an iced latte in the afternoon.

Anna has been on an up and down journey to fix some health issues in the last four years. This has required her to be very limited in diet choices, and as her food options have shrunk, coffee has become even more of a highlight. Good coffee is a splurge, but it is one the Nisley family is pretty dedicated to.

The best kind of Sunday afternoon includes reading, popcorn, and mama java lattes. This ritual is quite important and you can be sure that the girls will ask for the lattes on Monday if their Sunday schedule was a bit too full and it got missed.

The family favorites are the decaf Espresso Intenso for afternoon lattes, and either Messy Bun or Dominican Republic for their morning cup of pour-over.

Anna is very grateful for simple pleasures such as these to enjoy as a family. Part of her health journey has been to learn how to cope with seasonal depression, and creating fun moments and traditions has been a large part of her success. Cozying up with coffee in hand is high on Anna’s gratitude list.
